Bird Surveys

Bird Surveys

I have a large amount of experience of working as a consultant and sub-contractor on numerous Bird Surveys throughout the UK since 1999. Most surveys have been for various Ecological Consultancies on proposed wind farm projects that require Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).

The bird surveys associated with these EIAs are typically Flight Activity Surveys from Vantage points, and Breeding Bird Surveys, in both arable lowland and upland sites. Over many seasons I have surveyed more than 65 sites in England, Wales and Scotland, including wider breeding bird surveys for the controversial wind farm proposal on the Isle of Lewis, the North Pennines National Park on behalf of English Nature, and the National Dotterel Survey organised by Scottish Natural Heritage where I surveyed 35 separate mountaintops in Scotland in search of breeding Dotterels.

I have also carried out post-construction surveys around existing wind farms, and have some experience of surveying Bats in the UK.
